¡¸±ÀÂË¡¸j47-010.Joe Rindfleisch - Extreme Rubber Band Magic
³Ì«áªº¾ó¥Ö°éÅ]³N (2005¦~7¤ë·s¤ù)

Magic performed with rubber bands has grown in popularity with close-up magicians in recent years mostly because it encompasses all of the elements that make for effective close-up magic. The effects are easy to understand, highly visual, very magical and are done with everyday objects that everyone is familiar with.

Joe Rindfleisch has taken rubber band magic to an entirely new level and on this DVD, you¡¦ll see effects that will fool even experienced band workers. Besides the usual penetrations and broken band restorations (and Joe has some groundbreaking work on those, also!), you¡¦ll watch (and later, learn) effects with rubber bands that have appeared no where else in the literature of magic aside from Joe¡¦s work. What¡¦s more, the effects are grouped in performance sets, allowing you, once mastered, to perform mini-acts of rubber band wizardry.

Three-Card Monte contains close to three hours of video on two discs, including fine-point instruction in all the major moves, psychology, and misdirection used in the monte, plus a three-camera shoot on the street of a re-enactment of Cracker Parker's London mob scam, an interview with Gazzo discussing the methods of the London Mob, and actual footage of three-card monte being played on the streets in Khiva, Uzbekistan. The DVD also contains Anton's complete presentation and explanation of Three-Card Gold, an excellent, unique exhibition routine created by Chef and Whit Haydn. Also on this DVD are appearances by Gazzo, R. Paul Wilson, and Doc Eason discussing their original handlings of the climax of the monte in exhibition, as well as a unique contribution to the bent corner ruse from Ron Wohl. Haydn demonstrates and explains Bob Kohler's incredible ending for the monte, called Knifed! In this sensational ending, the performer has the spectator hold on to a quarter of the Ace, and pin the rest of the Ace face down with a pocketknife. Even so, the Ace escapes. The spectator ends up holding on to a quarter of the Joker, and the penknife is stuck firmly through three-quarters of a Joker! Bob has worked out every detail of this ending to make it practical, certain, and a real killer. Further, both DVD's can be opened in a computer as discs. Inside is found a complete non-printable e-book (.pdf file) version of the most recent edition of the book on the Three-Card Monte. This e-book contains over 160 pages and more than 180 photos and illustrations, and contains a ton of material on the patter, psychology, moves, glossary, history, and application to magic of Three-Card Monte. Most authorities consider this e-book to be the best resource on the monte to date! Both the DVD and CD-ROM portions are meant to provide the student of Three-Card Monte with the most complete, accessible, and illuminating resource on the game ever offered. Much of the information contained in this set is original and/or unpublished. Whether you are a magician, gambling expert, historian, a true ¡§Expert¡¨ on the game this two-volume DVD is for you! What The Professionals Are Saying:
¡§If you've missed anything, I can't find it! Your historical research is astounding.¡¨ - Gary Ouellet
¡§This is clearly the definitive book on three-card monte. Nothing else even comes close.¡¨ - Darwin Ortiz

417.Fifty Greatest Magic Tricks ¡]ªY½à¤ù¡G¨£ÃÒ¥@¬É¤W¤¤QÓ³Ì°¶¤jªºÅ]³N¡^

There was a great deal to enjoy in this compilation of superlative magical excellence, and the show was a great and golden credit to its makers. The magical content was almost uniformly superb, and all but the most obsessive magic fans will have seen items they hadn't seen before.

In some respects, the show's excellence is understandable. It was produced by the Objective Productions team, who also produce the Derren Brown TV specials and the award-winning Quick Trick show (aimed at children but with much to offer magic fans of any age). Given that this team involves people like Andrew O'Connor, Anthony Owen and Marc Paul (as a consultant), there can be no question of their commitment to bringing the very best of magic to the TV audience. It would be impossible to overstate the amount of time, sweat, love and devotion that was obviously lavished on this project - choosing the items (with help from a Magic Circle poll), obtaining the footage, conducting interviews in the UK and in the US, and then editing all the pieces into a 2 hour package. O'Connor and his hard-working team are deserving of the highest praise their endeavours (and I'm not just saying this because they took the aberrant decision to include me in it somewhere).

Regrettably, this devoted, talented and magic-loving production team have to work within the asinine constraints of the contemporary UK TV industry. Hence this treasury of magical delights had to be contaminated with dismal interruptions from so-called 'comedians' with no knowledge of the subject, nothing to say, and nothing to contribute. I can understand the inclusion of intelligent entertainers such as Jeremy Dyson and Reece Shearmsith, who have a genuine interest in magic and, as such, had something to offer. However, it is greatly to be regretted that the show had to be littered with asinine and ignorant comments from the likes of Jenny Eclair (one of the least amusing people ever to draw breath), Donna McPhail and others who evidently had nothing to say worth the saying. Shown footage of the wonderful Pendragons, and their stunning version of 'Metamorphosis', Ms. Eclair could only muster comments about Charlotte Pendragon which were base, tasteless and offensively insulting.

The show was hosted by 'Adam and Joe', a dismal pair of so-called 'comedians' opening and closing each segment with supposedly 'funny' sketches. Their contributions were an unmitigated disaster of wretchedly witless time-wasting imbecility. Supercilious TV suits are prone to trot out the all-purpose excuse that 'humour is subjective'. That may be so, but crass and unfunny stupidity is not - it is plain as a pikestaff and a waste of everyone's time. With regard to this feeble pair's linking 'sketches', the regrettable inability of anyone involved to exercise one iota of quality control seriously dented the show's appeal. I've no idea how much Adam and Joe got paid, but it was too much.

The presence of these allegedly comic ignoramuses would have mattered less if time had not been so precious. The 2 hour show included the mandatory 18 minutes of commercials and trailers, aæS?¶É??k????????nd 8 ? minutes of Adam and Joe. Guy Hollingworth's beautiful, elegant performance of The Reformation was awarded less than a minute, and suffered by severely uncharitable editing. Richard Ross performing the Linking Rings, one of the most captivating and artistic sights in magic, was only worth 40 seconds. Penn & Teller's double bullet catch was so truncated as to be rendered virtually impossible to follow. There were many similarly frustrating instances of delightful material being suffocated to make way for the 'funny' links. I do not blame O'Connor or any of his brilliant and diligent team. They just have to play the system, and appease the Channel 4 marketing department. But it's no less a shame for all that.

What of the Top 50 itself? Naturally, there can never be a definitive 'Top 50' list of tricks, and the controversy is part of the fun. In any case, the show would more fairly have been titled 'The Fifty Greatest Magic Tricks of which there is some video tape we could get the rights to, missing out the ones which are good but just don't work on TV'.

Nonetheless, some decisions furrow the brow more than others - how can you end up with three slots for the Amazing Jonathan (twice doing nothing more than demonstrating a prop) and none for, say, Fred Kaps? Why the noticeable bias in favour of large stage/TV illusions, many of which we know can be summed up as 'watch what this piece of apparatus can do', and so little of the world's best close-up magic? Not only do many laymen admire the skill and artistry of good close-up more than 'big box tricks', but television is the one medium which can showcase skilled close-up to best advantage. When a show can find room for James Hydrick, who barely qualifies as a magician at all, but not for the conspicuous excellence of Ricky Jay, Channing Pollock, Rene Lavand, Dai Vernon, Slydini, Falkenstein & Willard, Steve Forte and (insert your own hero's name here), one can only wonder what factors were at work. Blame the Magic Circle

425.Mike Maxwell Self Levitation

Ever since man first saw a bird take flight across the sky he has dreamed of defying the law of gravity. For centuries magicians have sought to invent the perfect illusion of levitation. Many elegant and deceptive methods have been created and performed.

As ingenious as all previous methods of levitation have been, they all have one thing in common they require some kind of gimmick - That is, until now! What has been called "The Balducci Levitation" requires no special gimmicks at all - just your body and your performing skills.

That's right, no gimmicks, yet you give the perfect iIIusion that you are floating right off the ground. On this video tape, Michael Maxwell not only teaches you how to properly perform The Balducci Levitation but he also shares exclusive inside tips from David Roth. David
has made the levitation one of his featured effects for lay audiences for many year and has never tipped the "real work" until now!

434. John Carney - The Video Of Secrets
¦b"Ãö©ó¯µ±Kªº®Ñ"¸Ìªº¤Ó¬yµ{¡]1¡A2¨â¶°¥þ¡^

Rather carelessly I failed to get a copy of John Carney's The Book of Secrets before it sold out; so I have had to be content with watching these DVDs of at least some of the material contained in this modern classic (an oxymoron if ever I've written one!).

The problem with John Carney is that he is everything a magician is not ¡V and in the process becomes more of a magician than the rest of us. Everything he does is so understated, so devoid of any magical moves, so effortless, that you are almost tempted to demand your money back on viewing him. Where's the skill, where are the flourishes, where's the obvious practise? It is quite clear that he was just bornæS?¶É??k???????? with the ability to make coins disappear before your eyes, remove wooden cigars from small purses and produce thimbles out of thin air.

In some ways when you see the explanations it is almost more infuriating. Because there are no particularly technical moves, nothing individually that you could not crack in half an hour, certainly no knuckle breakers that you can show off to your magical pals. It's just a seamless whole of impeccable misdirection, natural handling and the elimination of all outward displays of skill.

I think that anybody who bought these DVDs to perform move for move what John Carney does would be wasting their money. John has so individualised the routines that they fit him like a glove ¡V and on anyone else they would be a fashion disaster. However if you can begin to absorb the thinking behind everything he does and try to apply it to some of your own routines, then you cannot help but become a better magician.

Nearly all of the tricks are performed before a live audience and are excellently shot (only one routine I thought was a little too distant from the camera to fully appreciate it). The explanations are lucid and complete. I have not watched many magical DVDs so cannot make comparisons. But I found these uniformly first class on every level.

438. Doc Eason - ... after all these years ...

Many of my fans have asked when will there be a new Doc Eason tape... well, here it is... and it is a DVD!
It is called"...after all these years."
This is footage shot at the Tower this last spring... it is live .... with a very lively audience... and it contains material never before seen ... the new stuff! This is material that I have been working on SINCE the L&L videos.
It starts with an interesting history of the Tower, how it all came about in 1975 and my involvement. It moves quickly into my color changing knife routine, that I open almost every show with ... a card transposition that has become a cornerstone of my act...a weird sort of puzzle trick that I have been killing with!... my "bar bet" routine that has become a feature part of my act ( thanks to Bob Read) and an obscure (but killer) torn and restored card routine that has been frying my audiences for a few years now. I have included a second closing on the last two effects... to show the same trick's ending with a different audience. I close the whole thing with a card on Ceiling montage to show the updated ending. As always, the whole thing is liberally seasoned with bits and jokes. NOTE: This is a performance only video and not a step by step instructional video

440. J.C. Wagner - Queen's Debate

Here is one of the effects that made J.C. famous. This is the revised and improved version of his now classic routine The Dyslexic Queens and boy does this one deliver on the promise of incredible card magic without the use of ANY gimmicked cards and without the use of super difficult sleights! If you can do an Elmsley Count, well, you should be able to learn and perform Queen's Debate without a hitch!

The effect is simple and straight forward: The Queens are placed in four piles of cards. One at a time they vanish in the cleanest and showiest manner possible and then the vanish one at a time AGAIN and reappear back in their original piles! This is wonderfully clean and neat with not extra moves to get in the way of the show. The video is done with incredible detail insuring that you WILL be able to learn and perform this classic.

449.Howard Lederer's More Secrets of No Limit Hold 'Em

This DVD is very well done. Unlike Phil Hellmuth's DVDs (which were suprisingly inadequate), Lederer truly takes the viewer through a number of sound, substantive advice and strategy that acheives its goal -- to provoke thought and to tighten your play. This very much added to my game and gave more, and different perspective(s) to this wonderful game. An earlier review claimed that it is "not complete"...to which I would agree, with one caveat -- can any DVD/book/article truly "completely" cover such an intricate game? Maybe, if it were a collection of 10-12 disks or more...but, even then, there are different perspectives and strategies -- some you may subscribe to , others you may not. I only wish this DVD had more to it because of the fact that it was very insightful, helpful and instructive...I could have watched another 2 hours of Lederer's teaching. If you are looking for an instructional course that bucks the trend of those that claim so-called "million-dollar strategies" and fall short, and you want to improve your game -- this DVD pays for itself. Lederer doesn't hold back, afraid of revealing his secrets that may provide for others to beat him at the table. He lays it out in a great framework, delivering it in a way that of him really wanting to help you in your game. Another great attribute -- he doesn't drone on and on about his tourney conquests with an air of how great he is (unlike some other DVDs - no names mentioned Phil). In fact, I don't recall him talking about any of his "great moves", except for situations that he has encountered and the results -- good or bad. Lederer is a confident player, and it shows in his teaching of the game. Highly recommended!!

460. Jon Tremaine - Close Up Mental Magic ªñ¶ZÂ÷·N©ÀÅ]³N

Weiter geht es mit 'Where in the World?' 'Out of this World' kennen wir wahrscheinlich alle.

Dauer 2 Stunden. Deutschsprachig.

Imagine a spectator freely selecting a card from a normal shuffled deck and signing its face. The performer then shuffles the signed card back into the deck and returns the deck to its box.

Then the performer slides two face-up jokers halfway into the card box on top of the face-down deck (the jokers can even be paper-clipped together). The two out-jogged jokers visibly penetrate down through the encased cards to the bottom of the deck and then visibly rise back up through the cards to the top of the deck. The performer dumps out the deck and spreads the cards. A single face-down card is sandwiched between the two jokers; it's the æS?¶É??k????????spectator's signed card!

The magician then slides a small pay envelope halfway into the card box on top of the face-down deck. The envelope takes the same down and back journey through the deck as the two jokers. The performer dumps the deck and the envelope out of the card box, the spectator's signed card is inside the envelope!

The magician then performs "The Ultimate Ambitious Card Finale" by inserting the signed, face-up, "ambitious card" halfway into the card box at the bottom of the encased deck. The card visibly rises up through every card in the deck until it reaches the top. The performer dumps out the deck again and the spectator's signed card is face-up on the top of the deck!!

Juan Tamariz is one-of-a-kind performer. A household name in his native Spain, he is one of themoæS?¶É??k????????st unique and talented performers ever to grace our art. In the tradition of Vernon and Slydini he has blazed his own enchanted trail. His books on magic are required reading for any thinking student of magic. His repertoire is vast as well as legandary; he once performed for 74 weeks in a row on television. He is one of those special performers that takes spectators in a wonderful journey - a magical journey through the heart as well as the mind.

Juan Tamariz is the consumate performer. Armed with only a deck of cards, he can entertain a small group or a packed auditorium for hours. He is hilariously funny, but at the same time he'll fool you like you've never been fooled before. He is one of magic's greatist thinkers, a master of misdirectioin and magic philosophy, and he has never had a large body or material recorded onto video tape...until now. On this exclusive three-volume set of video tapes you will learn invaluable lessons in routining and construction, magical emotion, technique and presentation.

By adding another spectator and a few more moves, Richard Turner elevates the Signed Card Routine to new heights. Imagine an effect where two spectator's autographed cards, one from a blue deck and one from a red deck disappear, only to have both cards appear and reappear over and over again. The amazement of the audience escalates with each appearance of a signed card; from the performer's hat, under a mat, from a spectator's hat, a wallet, torn and restored, and from a sealed deck of cards. Titillating as it may already seem the grand finale explodes when the sealed deck is opened to expose the spectator's signed cards -- and it is the same card!!

Richard Turner's startling Double-Signed Card Routine is for the true sleight of hand artist. It can be incorporated into your existing show or utilized as part of a standup act or a close-up routine.

In addition to the double signed card routine, Turner reveals his long held secret -- Turner's Key Card. With Turner's Key Card, you will be taught how to locate a selected card, by touch only, after a spectator has shuffled it into the deck.

Also æS?¶É??k????????Included are recently found photos, letter, and quotes from Dai Vernon, Ed Marlo, Charlie Miller, Michael Skinner, Fred Robinson, Larry Jennings, and a 1987 interview with Dai Vernon.

Additional Moves Taught by Richard on this DVD include:

Turner's Two Finger Bottom Deal Force
Turner's Invisible Bottom Palm
Turner's One hand Bottom Deal Force
Turner's Two Card Display into Gambler's Palm or Full Palm
Turner's Diagonal Palm Shift to Full Palm or Gambler's Palm

Turner's Gambler's Cop and Hand Wash to Wallet
Turner's Signed Card to a Sealed Deck

499. JAY SCOTT BERRY'S LIGHT FANTASTIC
¥úªº¤Û·Q(»R»O¸`¥Ø)

Jay Scott Berry performs and explains some beautiful routines using his Finger Fazers. Your hands can be shown empty yet you produce sparkling points of light. You toss them freely from hand to hand; they twinkle and shine as they change color, vanish and reappear at your fingertips. In a clear, easy-to-follow, visual style, Jay leads you step-by-step from the basic palms and techniques to advanced handling, onto magical transformations and multiple light productions.

Finger Fazers not included. Please note that this is a DVD-R and might not play on all machines. Produced by Jay Scott Berry.
